Rob and Cate did a fantastic job on this beautiful, quiet and peaceful spot in the south of Portugal. The area is kind of hilly, almost mountainous with lots of trees and creating a rather green canopy which blinds well with the almost red soil similar to places I´ve seen in Australia. It is in a way Hinterland in terms of development and traffic but also the coastline and main road are somewhat quiet in terms of tourism. It is well enough developed to give you all the opportunities you may need on a vacation to not getting bored. The Quinta itself is of-the-grid with solar power, solar heated water, gas cooking and no cell-net and a very slow on and off internet - that means that Tranquila is what it is and if you like slow, lovely, peaceful and quiet places like we do it is perfect for a time off everything, perfectly suited to the ones who like to relaxe. Be prepared to drive on a dirt track for about 200 metres with steep passages - go slow and you can manage this easily even with a Fiat 500 ;-). The reward is a very warm welcome from Nelly the deaf dog and of course from Cate and Rob...
OHH I forgot to mention the starry nights with a milkyway that rivals with downunder easily..
The Quinta Tranquila is a beautiful small farm house, which the owners renovated und decorated with lots of taste and love. The house is located in a very quiet place, in the midst of stunning nature. On the property, there is a small river, where you can hang out and relax. By car you can approach the most beautiful beaches and small charming towns quickly. In the immediate surrounding area there's a lot to see and discover, but sometimes it is hard to become active, because the house and garden already is so gorgeous, that you don't really want to leave this place.
The owners are big-hearted, very kind and helpful with everything. They made our stay even more pleasant.
We truly enjoyed our holidays there. For us everything was just perfect.
If you want a vacation among calm nature, but close to beautiful beaches and romantic small towns, you're at the right place in choosing Quinta Tranquila. This place is definitely worth 5 stars (suns)!
We had a wonderful holiday at the Quinta Tranquila. The house lives up to its name, here you can really enjoy the tranquility. The location on the sunny hill in between the meanders of the Seixe Valley, is just magical. The house has a really cozy charm, it is lovely decorated and there is everything you need. The forestlike garden, surrounding the house with its riverbank, is simply breathtaking. We were lucky to get a guided tour from the owners and we were just thrilled.
We spent our holidays with yoga (there is a yoga resort nearby), surfing on the fantastic beach of Odeceixe, or we took long walks in the beautiful surroundings. The picturesque village of Odeceixe offered us many culinary and cultural experiences.

Rob and Cate were fantastic hosts, providing a warm welcome and being very attentive during our entire stay. Quinta Tranquila was very well equipped and beautifully decorated and presented. The location is quite stunning, with the ability to swim in the river at the bottom of the garden providing a real treat. Our two boys - 5 and 1 - loved the cool shade where they could paddle, swim, or float in Rob and Cate's inflatable ring. It really is a little piece of paradise that gives you a chance to escape everyday stresses. The only sounds we could hear were the cowbells and birdsong. While it feels very remote - in a good way - it's a short drive from Rogil and Odeceixe, and you can reach half a dozen stunning beaches within half an hour. We would love to visit again.
